| "Productivity isn't everything, but in the long run it is almost everything." |
| Dr. Paul Krugman, Ford Professor of Economics, MIT |
|
There are plenty of excellent manufacturing systems and programs around today such as Total Quality
Management (TQM), JIT - Kanban, Kaizen or Continuous Improvement, Planned Maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, MRP, Preventative Maintenance,
Process Control, MRP 2, ISO 9000, SPC, Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and so on. Many of us are involved with these
programs on a daily basis.
Without exception, the underlying themes of each of these programs are to improve productivity and/ or to reduce costs thereby assuring competitive product pricing, maximized profit and long term plant and corporation survival. |

| Everybody Loses When A Plant Is Closed Down! |
| We have compiled a list of the wire and cable plants closed in Canada since 1980. |
| If your goal is to further improve the overall productivity of your plant or company and thus improve the profitability, we suggest you first review the Process Engineering pages in this wire and cable section and then go on to our Plant Engineering pages in this very same section. Instead of going back up to the menu panel, we have for convenience included shortcuts to these pages here. |
